Jacob and Murphy

Another wonderful day of dog training with Merlin's KIDS Service Dogs....but this time was the best by far! We had our first experience actually bringing a service dog with us. The cold didn't even phase us because we were so happy! We did some chomfort and safe spotting. Murphy did well per usual and never got off task. Jacob was a love and followed directions. We were able to play with our son and not fear a meltdown. Murphy is our angel ❤️ Merlin's KIDS is a God send... Janice Wolfe came into our lives just when we needed her and we're never letting her go. We're forever grateful to her and ALL of our donors. Words could never be enough to express our gratitude. Without everyone involved this wouldn't be possible. We're forever grateful 🥲 ❤️

Buddy was rescued from AZ trained and resides in NJ with Anthony. Anthony had terrible bouts of screaming and crying from being sensory overloaded in public places, with lights, loud noises, and unfamiliar surroundings. Travel was also extremely difficult since Anthony would not sit quietly in a car for more than a few minutes. Buddy gives Anthony deep pressure, and leads him away to a safe area, where Anthony can regain his composure. Buddy has completely transformed Anthony's life.

Brooke was rescued in Arizona, transported, trained, and resides in New Jersey with Julie. Brooke has expanded Julie's social comfort zone and has dramatically improved Julie's independence. Brooke offers Julie unconditional love and alerts her before health issues arise.

Toby was rescued from Arizona, trained and lives in New Jersey with Hunter. Hunter has Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, and many more challenges. Hunter cannot go anywhere without Toby. Thanks to Toby's unconditional love and support, Hunter proudly become a Bar Mitzvah. Prior to Toby, Hunter could not sit through synagogue services. Hunter also has a history of wandering off, and being tethered to Toby keeps Hunter safe. Toby has taught Hunter about responsibility and controlling his temper.

Harry was non-verbal and prone to running off. As he became older and stronger, Harry became a challenge for his parents to keep him safe. Harry would run into the street or into a pool of water if given the opportunity. Emmy was rescued from TX and transported to NJ, as a very fearful dog, and was rehabilitated and trained specifically for Harry. Emmy prevents Harry from running off, backing him away from danger, With Emmy, Harry's family crossed the GW Bridge by foot!

Zack was diagnosed with polymicrogyria which causes him to have seizures.  These seizures have taken their toll on Zack so while he is 15 years old, he’s developmentally more like a 5 year old. We got Moby to be Zack’s seizure dog and he’s become so much more in such a short time.  Zack brought Moby Home on October 1st and they quickly became best friends.  Every morning Zack wakes up, he asks where’s his dog and jumps out of bed to kiss Moby. Moby has changed our lives so much since he’s entered our lives. Zack has taken on the responsibility of feeding and taking Moby on afternoon walks with his caregiver and most importantly, Moby alerts me when Zack is going to have a seizure.  The first time Zack seized when we had Moby, Moby ran around in circles till I went and acknowledged that Zack was on the floor. Immediately after, Moby calmed down and laid down next to Zack till he was alert.  As their bond grows, Moby can sometimes detect a large seizure before it happens.  He is able to alert me so I can get Zack to a safe place.  Having Moby has given Zack so much independence and confidence that I can’t thank Merlin’s KIDS enough for letting us be a part of Moby’s life.
